Sleek and Contemporary Mods in Giant Checks and Dots at Bottega Veneta



Come with us to take a close up look at the Bottega Veneta runway presentation at Milan Fashion Week designed by Tomas Maier. Fashion One brings you a close up look at the chic and contemporary catwalk show which featured polka dots, color blocks and bold patterns in a gorgeous selection of garments. The patterns and effects were reminiscent of various modern artworks such as Bridget Riley’s optical art, and Mark Rothko’s minimal color pieces.

Grids of dots appeared on wide leg lurex pants and suits, as well as recurring in polka dotted scarves and shirts. Slinky silk blouses in dusky blue, pink and bronze with loose neck ties were worn under knitted vests alongside colorblocked sweater dresses and oversized grid patterned capes, while jumpers paired with leather skirts mixed in between embellished lace dresses.

Elsewhere, structured square shouldered shift dresses were coordinated well with leather jackets and dramatic darker pieces amongst vibrant, space-age stiff collared sleeveless dresses and some clear PVC elements. Despite elements of 60s mod influence in the shift dresses, capes and rain coats combined with the subtle 70s casual glamour from silks, vests and wider cut legs, the masculine tailoring, techniques and fabric choices kept things contemporary and relevant.
